Most people would consider that our intelligence is measured by our IQ but what's the point of having a high IQ if we don't use it? Perhaps a better measurement might be the gap or distance between knowing and doing? The closer the gap the smarter we are for instance. If we know that regular exercise is good for us and do it, then that's smart. Making good choices is perhaps the true measure of intelligence.
In our sometimes, busy, crazy world, we forget to look after ourselves. We are so consumed by what we are doing that we fail to take proper care of our health. This can lead to all sorts of problems and actually make us feel worse. We are trying to get ahead but feel even more stressed, run down, anxious and basically, worn out. Unfortunately, this is all too common and not very productive but there are a few simple things you can do to help avoid this from happening.
As you just might get it! Step back for a moment and observe yourself. What have you been thinking about? Is that what you want? Did you know that you have 5 times more neural networks for negative than positive? Any wonder it can be challenging to keep a positive mindset sometimes.
I see lots of resumes every day and most people realise it needs to be tailored to suit the role which is a big job! Something that is often forgotten until the last minute is the cover letter but it’s the first thing that the prospective employer sees! By not having a tailored cover letter your application can be dismissed pretty quickly and fall into the pile in amongst all the other applications. So how do you write the ideal cover letter?
My clients seem to share one thing in common which, I guess, is why they seek me out. They all want something more out of life and, in fact, they want it badly enough however, there is something getting in the way of them achieving their desired goal.
I learnt another valuable lesson this week and would like to share.
The other day, I received an email from one of my clients who said she realised that she was not talking to her inner child because she was feeling resistance and felt uncomfortable while talking to her inner child. So, she stopped. And that meant, she didn't get to feel good. It was as though a light bulb went off in her mind, as she realised that she was listening to her feelings instead of being a strong and conscious person who could take charge of her thoughts.
Generally, until we learn better, we identify ourselves with our mind. We think our thoughts are simply “me thinking” and our feelings are “me feeling”.
How do we encourage a baby when they are learning to walk? We celebrate their successes – well actually we celebrate them just trying!
